Our Vision: Way to Zero
Volkswagen’s global initiative “Way to Zero” is our roadmap to becoming a net carbon-neutral company by 2050. This ambitious plan aligns with the Paris Climate Agreement and involves a complete transformation of our supply chain, production processes and product lifecycles. In Australia, we are proud to be part of this movement, with a growing range of innovative electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Smarter Mobility, Cleaner Production
We believe that engineering excellence should never come at the expense of the planet. That is why the Volkswagen Group has developed the Modular Electrification Toolkit (MEB) for efficient EV production, alongside the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) and Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) to support sustainable mobility across all drive types. Our focus on low-emission technologies and smart mobility services reflects our commitment to cleaner, smarter transportation.
Recycling and Second Life Batteries
Sustainability does not end when our vehicle leaves the showroom. The Volkswagen Group Headquarter is globally pioneering battery recycling and second-life applications that extend the usefulness of electric vehicle batteries. Our pilot facility in Salzgitter (Germany) can recycle up to 3,600 batteries per year, aiming for over 90% recovery rate of valuable materials like nickel, cobalt, manganese and lithium.
