Volkswagen Group Australia announces management changes

Volkswagen Group Australia (VGA) Managing Director Karsten Seifert announces senior management changes at the nation's leading European automotive importer, with a key new appointment at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and an appointment to come for CUPRA.

Ryan Davies is succeeded as Director Commercial Vehicles by Nathan Johnson who is the outgoing Head of Marketing and Product for Passenger Vehicles.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ryan for the contribution he has made to VGA and the VW CV dealer network during his employment with VGA and we wish him all the very best for the future," VGA Managing Director Karsten Seifert said.

Ryan joined VGA in August 2013 in the position of National Sales Manager, CV. In March 2019, Ryan commenced his current position of Director Commercial Vehicles and since that time he has made a valued and significant contribution to VGA.

During Ryan’s employment he assisted in guiding VGA and the dealer network through the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic and the interruptions to normal operations that this entailed. In 2023 he also successfully launched the all-new Amarok into the Australian market.

Mr Seifert said Nathan Johnson will be an asset to VGA and to Commercial Vehicles.

“Nathan will be an asset to the business and for the dealer network to drive growth and ensure the creation of a strong future vision for Commercial Vehicles,” Mr Seifert said.

“Nathan will also drive wider operational tasks inside VGA today and implement strategic topics to grow our common, shared future business and success. We congratulate Nathan on his appointment as Director Commercial Vehicles.”

Nathan has extensive experience both within the automotive industry and across eight-and-a-half years with VGA. Nathan has spent the majority of his time at VGA within the Commercial Vehicles brand across various marketing and product roles, most significantly launching the new Amarok into the Australian market and working closely with Volkswagen dealers on wider strategic topics.

VGA also announces that Ben Wilks, Director of CUPRA Australia, will leave the company on July 1 following a distinguished tenure spanning almost 25 years.

“VGA celebrates Ben’s significant contribution to multiple brands, culminating in the successful establishment of CUPRA in Australia across the last three and a half years,” Mr Seifert said.

“Ben’s strategic direction and passion for the brand and VGA has been inspiring.”

Ben has held senior roles across Training, Sales, Product and Marketing within Audi, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles.

VGA further congratulates Ben on his appointment to the role of General Manager Porsche Centre Sydney South, a significant opportunity and one that will see him continue in a leadership role within Volkswagen Group globally.

Further news on the new Director of CUPRA Australia will be announced in due course.
