Volkswagen Group sales results

The Volkswagen Group delivered 9.24 million vehicles worldwide across all Group brands in 2023 - 12 per cent more than in the previous year.

The Group puts the share of electric vehicles in total deliveries worldwide at 8.3 percent - compared to 6.9 percent in the previous year.

The Volkswagen brand delivered 4.87 million vehicles last year, 6.7 percent more than in the previous year. Deliveries of fully electric cars rose by 21.1 percent to around 394,000 cars in 2023 and accounted for around eight percent of total

Locally, Volkswagen Group Australia achieved a combined 2023 sales result of 74,605  – more than 20,000 deliveries up on the previous year.

All VGA brands recorded significant increases on 2022.

Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles recorded 33,512 deliveries. VW Commercial Vehicles achieved 10,286 despite being without its new Amarok until mid-year. In 2022, the  VW brands delivered fewer than 31,000 vehicles.

Audi rose sharply in 2023 to 19,039. SKODA reached 8,005 despite having no new models in 2023.  In its first full calendar year on sale on Australia, CUPRA made its mark with 3,763 sales.

Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda will see significant showroom renewal in 2024, not least in terms of Battery Electric vehicles.

VGA Managing Director Kartsen Seifert said: "VGA begins 2024 with four BEV variants – three Audis and one CUPRA – and should finish with a further 11, including the first for Volkswagen and Skoda in Australia.

“This is in addition to the introduction of new generation or updated versions of important conventional models.”
